New Here?

Hi there, and welcome to my personal blog: .liveit.loveit.blogit. I started this blog in early 2011 to document stuff that I love and stuff that I do. Over the past year and a half, this blog has morphed into a mix of recipes, restaurant reviews, travel posts, and a stream of consciousness discussion about my recent decision to quit my job to follow my dreams.

Arriving at a new blog can be a little intimidating, so this page lists some of my favourite posts in each category. You can also learn more about me (a former tax lawyer and current wedding and portrait photographer) on my about page!

Travel

I love to travel; I’ve been to all seven continents and have lived on four of them.

In February 2011, I went to Antarctica—where a baby penguin jumped on my lap! It was amazing. The most breathtaking day in Antarctica, was Day 5.

Every Tuesday, I post a travel photo or photo essay in a series called “Travel Tuesday“. One of my favourite such posts is about the amazing week a group of friends and I spent at the Chateau Ventenac in France.

Restaurant Reviews

Restaurant reviews are a relatively new addition to this blog! In early March 2012, I applied for Tourism Richmond’s 365 Days of Dining contest thinking I was the perfect candidate. I promptly realized that while I blog about food and travel regularly, I hadn’t done many restaurant reviews. So, I spent all of March eating at delicious Buenos Aires restaurants and writing about them.

My favourite posts include: Casa Mun Puerta Cerrada (a unique Buenos Aires phenomenon), Don Niceto (our local hole in the wall parilla that serves up delicious melt-in-your-mouth steak at rock bottom prices), Cafe Crespin (because who doesn’t need a gigantic three-course brunch?), and Salgado Alimentos (possibly the best—and the cutest—pasta restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining at)!

Cooking

I love to cook, (and I bake… hesitantly)! Possibly my very favourite (not waist-conscious) meal is Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese. It is insane.

My sister in law Debbie makes the world’s best salads, and two of her recipes have made it onto the blog: Debbie’s Warm Steak Salad (featuring my good friends bacon and friend mushrooms) and Debbie’s (much healthier) Green Bean and Barley Salad.

My last pick for a savory recipe is the world’s best soup: Spicy Pumpkin (Butternut Squash) Soup, go make it now: it is insane.

I also (try to) bake; when I attempted Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Cookie Cups, I ended up with Peanut Butter Cookie Doh. However, I was much more successful with these cute tiny gingerbread houses last December.

Quitting my job to follow my dreams

In December 2011, I left my steady job as a tax lawyer to follow my dreams of becoming a wedding photographer. To get to know more about this side of me, I suggest you start here, at my best-received post to date: Something More. Might I also suggest: Things That Scare Me.

I hope you’ve found this list helpful! If you are looking for something else, you can use the search field in the right-hand sidebar, or you can shoot me an email.

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO,

Allison
